Ingredients
  

Shortbread Base

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 113 g unsalted butter cold

Pecan Topping

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1.5 cups pecans halves or whole

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 356°F (180°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a food processor, combine flour, brown sugar, and cold butter. Pulse until crumbly.
  • Press the mixture into the prepared pan. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Heat until melted, bring to a boil, then stir in cream, salt, and pecans.
  • Pour the topping over the baked crust. Spread evenly and bake for another 20 minutes.
  • Let cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars.

Notes

You can freeze these bars for up to 3 months. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream for a special treat.
