Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Optional:
  • ½ tsp lemon zest
  • 4 –5 fresh mint leaves
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp dried lavender food grade

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, and water.
  • Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat. Stir occasionally.
  • Simmer for 12–15 minutes, mashing blueberries with a spoon.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool for 5–10 minutes.
  • Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl.
  • Pour into a sterilized glass jar or bottle.
  • Let it cool to room temperature, then seal and refrigerate.

Notes

  • Use a 2:1 sugar-to-water ratio if you want a thicker syrup.
  • Add infusions like mint or lavender during simmering and remove before straining.
  • Strained blueberry pulp can be saved for yogurt or toast toppings.
